Jean Shafiroff and Antonella Bertello celebrate film, fine wine, art and philanthropy in East Hampton.

There is something particularly special about autumn in the Hamptons. As the summer crowds fade and the East End settles into its quieter, more cozy season, the Hamptons International Film Festival brings a renewed sense of creativity and excitement to the area.

In celebration of the festival, Antonella Bertello, owner of the iconic Baker House 1650, and philanthropist Jean Shafiroff welcomed guests for an elegant autumn reception that brought together the worlds of film, fine wine, art and philanthropy.

Set against the historic charm of one of East Hampton’s most beloved boutique hotels, the gathering offered a lovely opportunity for friends, artists, philanthropists and members of the Hamptons community to come together and celebrate the season.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was an introduction to Mas des Infermières, the beautiful French vineyard owned by acclaimed filmmaker Sir Ridley Scott and his family.

Located in Provence, the estate combines Scott’s appreciation for artistry and storytelling with the timeless traditions of French winemaking. With the Hamptons International Film Festival serving as the inspiration for the gathering, the connection between cinema and the vineyard felt especially fitting.

Guests enjoyed a taste of the French countryside, bringing a little Provençal charm to East Hampton.

The celebration also offered an opportunity to highlight a cause close to Jean Shafiroff’s heart: the Center for Family Services of Palm Beach County and its much-loved annual Old Bags Luncheon.

A fixture on the Palm Beach philanthropic calendar, the event brings together fashion, friendship and charitable giving in support of programs that provide essential services to children, individuals and families in need.

The 2027 luncheon will take place on Wednesday, February 17, with Jean Shafiroff, Lora Drasner and Marzia Precoda serving as co-chairs.

For Shafiroff, whose dedication to philanthropy continues to make an impact both in the Hamptons and beyond, the reception was another wonderful example of how bringing people together can also bring attention to meaningful causes.

Adding to the afternoon’s creative atmosphere was the work of Ashley Medici, whose photography and artwork were also featured during the gathering.

Her artistic contributions complemented the celebration beautifully, reflecting the creative spirit that makes the Hamptons International Film Festival such a special time on the East End.

With its timeless architecture, intimate atmosphere and quintessential East Hampton elegance, The Baker House 1650 provided a beautiful setting for an occasion that celebrated creativity, community and the art of bringing people together.

From the wines of Provence to meaningful philanthropic initiatives and inspiring artwork, the reception was a lovely reminder that some of the Hamptons’ most memorable gatherings happen long after summer has come to a close.

And perhaps that is part of the magic of autumn on the East End, a quieter season, beautiful surroundings and the opportunity to slow down and enjoy the company of others.
