Southampton’s cultural calendar is set to shine even brighter this fall as Slattery Gallery hosts a solo exhibition by celebrated Irish artist Gerard Byrne. The show, titled “Stillness in Motion: Seeing Light Anew,” will run from Saturday, August 30th through Monday, October 13th, 2025, with a highly anticipated opening reception hosted by famed photographer Patrick McMullan.

A Celebration of Light and Place

The exhibition will feature more than twenty original works, including eight plein air paintings capturing the spirit of Southampton, each debuting for the first time. Byrne’s portfolio spans large-scale studio works—ranging from figurative studies to still lifes and sweeping seascapes—with three notable pieces highlighting scenes from his native Ireland.

Commenting on the inspiration behind his latest collection, Byrne shared:

“There’s something about the Hamptons light that brings the work alive. I’m delighted to be back in Southampton—this time with a full body of work and space to let it breathe.”

From Ireland to the Hamptons

Byrne’s return to the Hamptons follows his recent participation in the Hamptons Fine Art Fair, where several of his works were warmly received. The Slattery Gallery exhibition represents his most comprehensive showcase in the U.S. to date, weaving together themes of movement, memory, and the transcendent quality of light.
