Palm Beach has long held a particular kind of magic — sun-drenched glamour, playful elegance, and a sense that style should feel as joyful as the destination itself. Now, one of the town’s most iconic addresses, The Colony Palm Beach, is bringing that spirit beyond the pink walls of the hotel with the debut of a limited-edition swim and resort capsule created in collaboration with Agua by Agua Bendita and legendary hand-painted wallpaper atelier de Gournay.
The collection marks the first time the whimsical de Gournay mural found inside The Colony has been transformed into wearable design — translating the artistry of hand-painted wallpaper into a sophisticated wardrobe for sun-soaked escapes.
The result is a collection that feels perfectly at home in Palm Beach — and just as effortlessly suited for the Hamptons, Capri, or the Côte d’Azur.
A Story Painted Into Fashion
The inspiration for the capsule comes from Early Days in Palm Beach, the enchanting mural that greets guests in The Colony’s lobby. Created by de Gournay, the artwork captures the lush flora and fauna of South Florida in soft pinks, aquatic teals, and vibrant greens.
Within the illustrated landscape, alligators glide through lily-covered waters, flamingos wander through tropical gardens, and panthers appear beneath towering palms. Even Johnnie Brown, the hotel’s beloved monkey mascot, makes a cameo — a playful nod to The Colony’s spirited personality.
Translating such intricate storytelling into clothing required extraordinary care.
The design team at Agua by Agua Bendita approached the project with a deep respect for the mural’s craftsmanship, ensuring that every detail — from embroidery to color placement — preserved the artistry of the original work.
Resortwear With Craft at Its Core
The capsule features a curated selection of the brand’s signature silhouettes, including elegant one-piece swimsuits, sculptural bikinis, flowing pareos, and breezy resort dresses designed for long afternoons by the pool or evenings beneath swaying palms.
Each piece carries elements of the mural’s hand-painted charm. Soft embroidery mirrors the brushstrokes of the wallpaper, while delicate prints bring the playful wildlife and botanical motifs to life across silk and swim fabrics.
The effect feels both whimsical and refined — the kind of effortless luxury that defines Palm Beach style.
A Natural Partnership
For Sarah Wetenhall, owner and CEO of The Colony Palm Beach, the collaboration has been years in the making.
The hotel’s de Gournay mural has long been a beloved design signature, and translating it into swimwear felt like a natural evolution — but only with the right partner.
Agua by Agua Bendita, known for its artisanal craftsmanship and romantic resortwear silhouettes, proved to be the perfect match. The brand’s commitment to embroidery, textile artistry, and thoughtful design allowed the mural’s spirit to remain intact while reimagining it for a global audience.
The result is a capsule that feels like a natural extension of The Colony’s aesthetic — vibrant, artistic, and unmistakably glamorous.
Where to Find the Collection
The limited-edition collection is available now at aguabyaguabendita.com, through The Colony Edit, and will debut on Moda Operandi, the collaboration’s exclusive online retail partner.
For travelers, collectors, and lovers of beautiful design, the capsule offers something rare — a piece of Palm Beach artistry that can travel far beyond the iconic pink hotel.
