Celebrate America’s 250th Birthray at the Southampton History Museum’s Halsey House Gala

As the nation prepares to toast the 250th anniversary of American Independence, the Southampton History Museum will host one of the East End’s most iconic and infamous summer soirées, the Halsey House Gala: Celebrate America 250, being held on Friday, July 3, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the historic Halsey House & Garden in Southampton.

Set against the backdrop of one of New York State’s oldest surviving English colonial homes, the annual benefit seamlessly blends history, philanthropy, and Hamptons sophistication. Built in the late 17th century, Halsey House provides the perfect setting for an evening celebrating both America’s founding and Southampton’s rich cultural heritage.

Leading this year’s celebration are renowned philanthropist Jean Shafiroff and community leader Mary Slattery, who will serve as gala co-chairs. Guests will enjoy an elegant evening featuring signature cocktails by Herbert & Rist including the exclusive “Salty Sayre,” created in honor of the museum’s special exhibition Stephen Sayre’s American Revolution alongside a premier raw bar, gourmet hors d’oeuvres from Thyme & Again, and live music beneath the summer evening skies

Beyond its festive atmosphere, the Halsey House Gala plays a vital role in supporting the Southampton History Museum’s mission to preserve and share the stories that have shaped the East End for generations. Proceeds from the evening directly benefit the museum’s historic sites, educational programming, archives, and collections, ensuring that Southampton’s remarkable past continues to inspire future generations.

This year’s celebration carries even greater significance as America marks its semiquincentennial, inviting guests to reflect on the nation’s history while gathering in one of its oldest surviving colonial settings. It promises to be a memorable evening where heritage, community, and philanthropy come together in quintessential Hamptons style.
